The Wheeling High School "Wildcats" Marching Band has had an incredible competition season this year, having performed in five festivals or parades in the past month with five 1st Places finishes.
"We have competed against many of the finest best marching bands in Illinois, and beyond, and have beat them all," commented proud WHS Director of Bands, Brian Logan. "In addition to winning 1st place in Class "AA" at all the festivals, the "Wildcat" Marching Band has won the Visual, Music, and General Effect categories at each event, which is a remarkable achievement!"

Student leaders of the Wheeling Band include the following:
Drum Majors: seniors Chelsie Coren and Kylie Gember.
Guard Captains: seniors Rachel Cacchione and Kaitlyn Nielsen.
Drum Captain: senior Nicholas Westin, soloist, senior Omar Joya (sax), senior David Robertson (trumpet), senior Kaitlyn Nielsen (dance), junior Ronny Roth (trumpet), junior Cesar Mendoza (trombone), and junior Dani Anderson (drums).
The Field Show Program is titled BIG CITY JAZZ from City of Angels and Royal Crown Revue.
Staff members include Andy Sturgeon (Marching Assistant), Stephanie Melinyshn (Color Guard and Assistant Band Direcor), Brian Spicer and Jena Spaulding (Percussion), Pete Weber (Visual Design), Wayne Markworth and Erick Eckstrom (Arrangers).
The Wheeling "Wildcat" Band hopes to make it a clean sweep with its next and final competition of the season at Marengo on Sunday, Oct. 7.
