The Fuzzy Pink Bunnies of Doom Honored

December 8, 2012 – The Fuzzy Pink Bunnies of Doom, six girls ages 9-11 from Kildeer Countryside and Country Meadows, participated in the First Lego League competition in Rockford, IL.  They were awarded the Technical Design Award for their robot and will be advancing to the state competition on January 18 and 19, 2013 in Arlington Heights, IL.

First Lego League (http://firstlegoleague.org/) provides children ages 9-14 with the opportunity to discover real-world science and technology challenges.  Teams design their own solution to a current scientific question or problem and build autonomous LEGO robots that perform a series of missions.  This year’s focus is on Senior Solutions – Seniors and Technology. The FPBoD focused their project on the challenge of Alzheimer’s disease and how music therapy helps these patients regain a sense of self, even if just for a little while.  They researched the Music and Memory Program (http://musicandmemory.org/), which provides iPods to seniors with music from their era as a form of therapy.

We are inspired by the ideas and energy these girls have put forward to help elders. As a nationwide social justice movement of people of all ages dedicated to protecting elders and promoting their dignity, we think the girls are awesome! We'd like to invite them and their parents to become members of Ageless Alliance and keep making a difference for elders. They can join at www.agelessalliance.org.
