Creatively Caring Charitable Organization Names 2012 Sponsor of the Year
Philanthropic organization and local children’s business team up through the year to provide community service activities to children
Wheeling, IL (December 11, 2012) - Creatively Caring, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for families to get involved in hands-on community service, announced on Tuesday, December 11, that Nibbles Play Cafe is their Sponsor of the Year, 2012. Creatively Caring works with local businesses and non-profit organizations to enrich communities through fun, family service projects. Families with children of all ages are encouraged to participate in Creatively Caring’s projects which help people, animals and the environment. The volunteers of Creatively Caring believe that when youth take an active part in community service, they develop self-confidence and cultivate a greater sense of responsibility, tolerance and empathy for others, and feel empowered to create positive change. These children grow into adults who strengthen families and communities. Creativley Caring serves the Greater Chicago area, including the North Shore, the northern Cook County suburbs and the southern Lake County suburbs. Located at 13 Huntington Lane in Wheeling, Nibbles’ Play Cafe is a fantastic place for families, where children and their caregivers can enjoy good food, great play areas, special evening events for families and unique birthday parties and family celebrations. Before Kathleen Weinberg, owner, opened Nibbles Play Cafe, she had an extensive career as a social worker, and when opening Nibbles, wanted community service to be a significant part of Nibbles. This year, Nibbles’ has been Creatively Caring’s biggest supporter. Nibbles’ has provided a fun place to hold Creatively Caring craft classes and their Make Two programs where children make items to be given to causes such as our armed forces, seniors in nursing homes, women’s shelters and animal shelters. Nibbles has provided discounts to Creatively Caring members and opportunities for fundraising to help meet Creatively Caring’s financial need. Creatively Caring and Nibbles Play Café have recently teamed up for an ongoing intergenerational activity with Project Linus, an organization that provides blankets to children who are inpatients at children’s hospitals. Project Linus quilters are meeting at Nibbles once a month to sew quilts as a group, while the children are decorate fabric squares and get the opportunity to see the quilts being created. In addition to with working with Creatively Caring, Nibbles has supported other nonprofit organizations who provide services to parents and their children, such as local La Leche groups, WINGS Programs for Women, and local food pantries. Nibbles also works with local high school programs to provide job training opportunities for students with special needs.
