Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) is proud to host the Great Lakes Regional Games (GLRG) and the Adult National Championships (ANC) on June 15-17 at Lake Forest High School and Deerfield High School.
GLRG and ANC are multi-sport competitions for athletes with a physical or visual disability. These two events will run simultaneously and provide three days of competition, educational clinics, and socials. Sports for both games include swimming, track, field, archery, table tennis, power lifting, and hand cycling.
GLASA is promoting the games to athletes throughout the Midwest and on a national level, with additional outreach to injured military. The GLRG will serve as a qualifier for the National Junior Disability Championships held in Mesa, Ariz., July 22-29.
Both the GLRG and ANC are unique in that they serve a wide variety of athletes from beginners and first time competitors to elite veteran athletes. This follows the GLASA motto of “Let No One Sit on the Sidelines.”
The Great Lakes Regional Games and the Adult National Championships are sanctioned by Wheelchair and Ambulatory Sports, USA and Wheelchair Track and Field, USA. Aetna and Walgreens are proud sponsors of the 2012 games. This project is supported by U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee, through funding provided by Veterans Affairs and Disabled Sports, USA’s Warfighter Sports.
The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association offers a variety of elite adaptive sports programs year-round.
