Township High School District 214 is proud to present a recital featuring exceptionally talented soloists in the annual District Honors Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition Finals Recital on Monday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the theater at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Rd. in Arlington Heights. Six finalists, representing three of the district's high schools, will compete for the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist with the Honors Orchestra at the school district's Honors Music Festival on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. The festival will take place at Forest View Educational Center at 7:30 p.m.
At the beginning of the year, District 214’s top music students were given the opportunity to submit a recorded performance of a solo work. The top competitors from the district were ultimately selected to participate in the upcoming recital competition.
District 214 Honors Orchestra Director, Patrick O’Connor said, "We are excited to have six exceptional students named as finalists this year! The talent each student presented in their entry recording is a tribute to years of hard work and dedication, the support they receive at home, and the quality of our district’s music programs. We’re proud of these students, and look forward to the finals competition."
A panel of distinguished professional musicians will now choose the winner at the final recital. This year's finalists are Buffalo Grove High School junior Laleh Omaraie (piano), Buffalo Grove High School junior Peter Kotecki (clarinet); John Hersey High School senior Kyle Chung (violin); John Hersey High School junior Serena Voltz (tuba); John Hersey High School senior Roya Zandi (violin); and Prospect High School senior Caitlin Claytor (voice).
There is no admission charge for either the soloist competition in November or the Honors concert in March 2013, and the community is welcome to attend both performances. For further information contact Patrick O’Connor, District 214 Honors Orchestra Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
