Police Blotter: Woman's Wallet Stolen from Hand

ALCOHOL
Theodore G. Gimza, 58, of the 2200 block of Nichols Road, Arlington Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and no valid firearm owner’s identification card at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 4 on westbound Lake-Cook Road near Weidner Road.
MISSING PERSON
A resident reported at 1:35 a.m. Feb. 3 that she went to pick up her adult sons in Buffalo Grove, one of the sons was not there. One brother stated that the other had gotten into a car that sped away. The missing brother was entered into the police state database.
ROBBERY
A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported that while she was walking in the parking lot holding her wallet in her hand at 12:40 p.m. Feb. 4, a man came up from behind her, grabbed her wallet and ran off. The resident was only able to give a vague description of the man.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A bank official on the 100 block of West Dundee Road reported that a man was videotaping the bank from inside a van at 4:05 p.m. Feb. 3. The report was delayed and the vehicle and man were not located. The license plate came back as no record on file.
A resident received a phone call at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 3 from a male caller who stated that he was in Mexico, would be traveling to Illinois and that he would stop by the resident’s house. The resident advised the caller that he would not be home and hung up. A watch was initiated for the home.
A resident reported seeing a man walking who appeared to be wearing a holster with possibly a gun at 3:35 p.m. Feb. 5 at Highland Grove Drive and Somerset Lane. An officer located a cable network worker who was wearing an equipment belt, but the resident stated that it was not the person she saw. Officers checked the area with negative results.
A resident of the 400 block of Ferndale Court reported Feb. 4 that his garage door was egged the previous evening. While looking out the window at 9:15 p.m. Feb. 4, he observed two female teens and a male teen walking toward his home. When the teens saw the resident they returned to their car and left the area. Officers checked the area with negative results.
A resident of Greenwood Court North reported seeing a man running into his backyard at 3 a.m. Feb. 5. The man was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing all black. The area was checked with negative results.
THEFT
Someone took the license plate from a motorcycle between Jan. 5 and Feb. 5 on the 100 block of Armstrong Drive.
VANDALISM
Someone threw eggs at a garage door at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 3 on the 400 block of Ferndale Court.
A resident who was watching her neighbor’s home reported at 8 a.m. Feb. 5 that someone deposited an egg on the front stoop.
WELL-BEING CHECK
A wife called police at 3 p.m. Feb. 5 to report that she recently had broken up with her husband and she was concerned that he may be depressed. The husband had their 4-year-old daughter with him and he was not returning the wife’s text messages. An officer spoke with the husband who stated that he and his daughter were fine.
An officer responded to a report of a man who was bleeding after falling at 4:40 p.m. Feb. 5 in the parking lot on the 800 block of Trace Drive. An officer located the man, who was then transported by the paramedics to the hospital due to a high level of intoxication and a cut on his face.
OTHER INCIDENTS
A resident reported that the outside lights on a neighbor’s home were going on and off at 5:40 p.m. Feb. 3. An officer contacted the neighbor who was not aware of any electrical problems at the home. It later was determined that the problem was caused by a faulty outside timer switch.
A resident of the 100 block of Wildflower Circle reported youths throwing landscape rocks into a pond at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 4. An officer located the youths and advised them to stop.
A resident reported that he picked up his 15-year-old son from his mother’s house due to an argument on Feb. 4. The mother threatened to call police and report that the father kidnapped the son. An officer spoke with the mother, who stated that it was OK for the son to stay with his father for the night.
