Police Blotter: Residents Disturbed by Noisy Neighbors

ALCOHOL

Luis A. Rivera, 21, of the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue, Buffalo Grove, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a DUI charge at 9:10 p.m. Oct. 8 on the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue.

Arena, Dominique R. Arena, 20, of the 300 block of Persimmon Court, Bartlett, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of license, possession of cannabis, illegal lane usage and disobeying a red light at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 8 on Lake-Cook Road at Buffalo Grove Road.

ANIMALS

A resident reported catching a dog that was running loose at 3 p.m. Oct. 8 near Buffalo Grove Road and Deerfield Parkway. The brown Shiba Inu did not have a collar or tags. An officer located a microchip and contacted the owner, who retrieved the dog from the police station.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 600 block of Dunhill Drive reported that someone entered her car and removed the navigation system between 7 p.m. Oct. 7 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 8. There were no signs of forced entry 

A resident of the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive reported that someone took a navigation system, iPhone, sunglasses and a power jack from his vehicle while it was in the parking lot between 9-10 a.m. Oct. 8. The total value of the missing items was $660. The resident was sure that he had locked the car, but there were no signs of forced entry and the alarm did not activate. 

COMPLAINTS

A resident of the 200 block of Thornapple Court reported Oct. 8 that his next-door-neighbor constantly hosts loud parties. The resident has contacted his association, which referred him to the police. An officer attempted to contact the neighbor without success. 

A resident of the 2500 block of Live Oak Lane reported that her neighbor was playing loud music or had a live band in his unit at 11:40 p.m. Oct. 8. An officer spoke with the neighbor who stated that he turned the music down when he saw the squad car pull up. The officer advised the neighbor of the ordinance that requires all noise to be at a reasonable level after 10 p.m. The neighbor stated that he will comply. 

A resident of the 1100 block of Auburn Lane reported that her upstairs neighbors are screaming and pounding on a door at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 8. Officers spoke with the neighbors who stated that they were arguing loudly and they apologized. All was quiet when the officers departed.

IMPROPER SECURITY

While conducting a vacation house watch at 4:55 p.m. Oct. 8 on the 800 block of Kingsbridge Way, an officer found the rear sliding doors unsecured. The keyholder was contacted and assisted the officer in checking the house. Everything was found to be in order. A note was left for the homeowner and the door was secured. 

INVESTIGATION

A resident of the 200 block of Fabish Drive returned home Oct. 9 to find the deadbolt to her interior service door missing. Nothing in the residence was disturbed or missing. Later that day when the resident checked her email, she found a message from the condo association that they needed to force entry into the unit because of a water leak. The officer advised the association to leave a written note in the future. 

LOST PROPERTY

A complainant reported that she last had her brown Louis Vuitton wallet at 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at Dominick’s. The following day she found the wallet missing. The complainant checked the parking lot and at the service desk without success. The wallet contained $70, two credit cards, a driver’s license, a checkbook and a Metra ticket. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident told police that he hired a landscaper to maintain his yard while he was away for the summer. When the resident returned on Sept. 26, he found that the landscaper had damaged his gate and knocked a landscape timber out of place. When the resident called the owner of the company, he was told that the landscaper no longer wanted the resident’s business. The resident is dissatisfied that the repairs were not made. Police advised the resident that this is a civil matter. 

While on patrol at 10:10 a.m. Oct. 8, an officer noted a great deal of graffiti on the interior walls of the dumpster enclosure at Churchill Park. The officer also noticed that someone dumped a TV, a folding table, red clay bricks, plastic water bottles and beer cans into the enclosure. The Buffalo Grove Park District was notified. 

REPOSSESSION

An agent for Fast Trak Recovery Service registered at 9:55 p.m. Oct. 8 with the police department to repossess a 2005 Harley-Davidson FLH motorcycle from the 1-100 block of East Canterbury Lane. The repossession was reported unsuccessful. The resident of that home told the agents and police that he does not own a motorcycle and that the name on the order was not his. The resident told police that the agents wanted to see the resident’s identification and look into the garage for a motorcycle. The resident refused to give two his ID and access to his garage. The officer verified the resident’s ID and found no motorcycle in the garage. The agent agreed to remove the resident’s address from the file. 

SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS

A resident received a call Oct. 8 from a man who stated that the resident owes $1,020 for a payday loan. When the resident told the caller that he has never received a payday loan, the caller became irate and told the resident that he would be sued. The resident then received another call, which he did not answer. The resident checked his credit reports and found nothing on them. The resident was advised to keep a check on his credit and to contact the Social Security Administration for an alert. 

THEFT

An employee on the 700 block of Dartmouth Lane reported Oct. 8  that she placed her purse into her desk drawer and when she retrieved it at the end of the day, she found $20 and her prescription medications missing. The incident has been reported to the employee’s supervisor.
