Police Blotter: Man Cleans Out Garage, Finds Someone Else's Bike

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A complainant reported Dec. 17 that someone moved two Bobcat vehicles and cut the locking chains to equipment trailers on the 200 block of Cobbler Lane. There were also tool marks at the entry point of one trailer.

A resident of the 2200 block of Avalon Drive told police that while cleaning out his garage on Dec. 17 he found a green Wildwood Diamondback bicycle. The resident asked his neighbors and his kids if anyone knew whose bike it was, but no one knew. The bike was placed into property at police headquarters. 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident reported getting into a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend at 12:10 a.m. Dec. 18 on the 300 block of Lakeview Court. The ex then left the residence, walked by the resident’s truck and allegedly scratched it with an unknown object. Sarai Catillion, 26, of the 200 block of West Pineview Drive, Round Lake, was charged with criminal damage to property.

THEFT

A resident told police Dec. 17 that he suspects his adult son of taking two bicycles, a set of skis and a snow board from the garage and pawning them. The son denied taking the items. The father told the son to pack his belongings and leave the house. An officer stood by until the son was picked up by a friend.

An employee on the 1600 block of North Barclay Boulevard reported Dec. 17 that she was in a meeting for an hour, and when she returned to her desk, someone had taken an envelope containing $310 out of her purse. The purse had been left on top of the desk. Human resources will supply the names of employees who were not in the meeting.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A complainant reported that while she was in a parking lot with her children at 5 p.m. Dec. 16 on the 1500 block of Abbott Court, her ex-husband approached her and called her vulgar names. The resident is in the process of obtaining an order of protection and wanted the incident documented.

A Buffalo Grove law firm reported receiving a letter and a check on Dec. 17 that turned out to be a scam. The letter and check were placed into evidence.
