Police Blotter: Dog Abandoned at Pet Store

The following information was supplied by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. Email cristel@patch.com with questions about this blotter.

ALCOHOL

Viral A. Patel, 25, of the 900 block of North Boxwood Drive, Mount Prospect, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding at 2:05 a.m. Sept. 14 on Dundee Road at Golfview Terrace.

ANIMALS

An official at Pet Supply Plus reported that someone left a black Chihuahua mix at the front door of the store at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 12. The dog was in a dog carrier along with a few half empty bags of dog food. The dog had a microchip, which was registered to Kay’s Animal Shelter. A shelter employee told the officer who adopted the dog. An officer called that person who stated that she gave the dog to her brother, who then gave the dog to a friend, and that she knew nothing about the dog being left at the pet store. The woman agreed to pay the boarding fee and the dog was returned to Kay’s Animal Shelter.

PHONE THREAT

A complainant reported Sept. 13 that her tenant left a threatening message to do bodily harm, because the complainant has proceedings underway to evict the tenant. An officer spoke with the tenant and advised him to cease his calls and messages.
