Outside Group Hits Schneider With Attack Ad

New Prosperity Foundation running commercials claiming Schneider supports higher taxes and more government control.

Television commercials attacking Democratic Congressional candidate Brad Schneider of Deerfield aired today accusing him of supporting higher taxes, bigger government and taking medical decisions out of doctors’ hands, according to a story on the Huffington Post.

The ads are sponsored by the New Prosperity Foundation located in Chicago and headed by Highland Park native Ron Gidwitz. They are targeted against Schneider and two other Democrats—Tammy Duckworth and former Rep. Bill Foster (D-Geneva)—who are all in nationally targeted races.

Schneider campaign manager Reed Adamson denies the allegations in the commercial taking particular aim at the allegation about the doctor-patient relationship.

"This right-wing group is only interested in holding on to this seat and their willingness to invoke 'death panels,' which have been proven time and again to be completely fictional, just shows the lengths to which they'll go protecting the Tea Party agenda," Adamson said to Patch.

Schneider is running against Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth). Dold campaign spokesperson John McGovern said the Dold campaign had nothing to do with the commercials and legally cannot.

New Prosperity is trying to elect Republicans in the Midwest, according to the Huffington Post article.

As an independent that voted for both Reagan and Clinton and abstained from voting for either Obama or McCain, I have been less than impressed with Dold even though I did vote for him.
Gidwitz like many other old money families gravitate towards cultural causes like museums and universities which means they rubbed elbows with the democratic machine in Chicago.
Both have benefited from daddys money, and neither of them have done much for the average working guy. Dold has been decidedly absent in the Sunset Village debacle, and most recently offered up a vanilla statement with Dick Durbin on the UP bridge collapse.
They try to show a different philosophy between parties, but in fact politicians in both parties have the same goal, get your money and stay in office.

Independents that vote for Team Red/Blue are not really independents at all. They're completely dependent upon the fascists.

Not voting in 2008, as with most elections, was the correct decision. Do not sanction the thieves with your participation.

It would have been nice if the dummies at New Prosperity would have at least spelled Brad Schneiders name correctly. Idiots..

Try emailing Mr. Dold a question. You won't get a reponse. He's not our Congressman. He belongs to Grover Norquist.

Well let's keep score:

Support for higher taxes? All Democrats in Washington support higher taxes.
New Prosperity 1, Schneider 0

Bigger Government? Schneider will not vote to repeal the biggest of big government programs, ObamaCare. Dold has.
New Prosperity 2, Schneider 0

Taking medical decisions out of doctors' hands? Again, ObamaCare.
New Prosperity 3, Schneider 0

This is not an attack ad. It is an issue oriented ad. An attack ad would go after the personal life and business of Schneider. You know, like the Democrats are doing to Dold in these comments.

You are so right! We don't need bigger government, labor departments, overtime laws, minimum wage lawys, water and air protection etc. Congressman Dold should address this problem of government telling an owner that he should pay overtime to lazy bums! Paying overtime might close down a business so hopefully Congressman Dold hear the desperate plea for help by many business owners who are told by lazy employees they have to be paid just because they worked over 40 hours in a week. So what? This country was built working more than 40 hours in a week and no one got overtime then so why now? Congressman Dold abolish the overtime lawys to save jobs.
