Mathias to Seek Election as Romney's Alternate Delegate

Buffalo Grove resident Sid Mathias is among those running to represent presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Buffalo Grove resident and State Rep. Sidney Mathias (R-53rd) is among the candidates to serve as alternate delegate for presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

Mathias' candidacy was announced by State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, the Illinois Chairman for Mitt Romney for President.

Suburban candidates for delgate positions are Daniel R. Bryant from Lake Forest, Steve Kim from Northbrook and Mark W. Peterson from Lincolnshire.

Joining Mathias as candidates for alternate delegate positions are Eric Scott Leys from Des Plaines and Sanford E. Perl from Glencoe.

Delegates and alternates committed to a presidential candidate will appear on the March 20 primary ballot and be elected from each of Illinois' 18 Congressional districts. Voters will separately select their preference for the presidential nomination.

"All of the delegates and alternates are looking forward to being on the primary ballot in support of Mitt Romney for President," Rutherford said in a statement. "Taking part in the process of choosing the Republican nominee and, possibly, the next President of the United States is important to our democratic process."

Why would you say that, Buff? Romney will most likely win Illinois and Sid Mathias would make a great delegate.

Why would you say that, Buff? Romney will most likely win Illinois and Sid Mathias would make a great delegate. Would you prefer he be the delegate for Gingrich?
