Longtime Village Staff Member Honored Before Retirement

Deputy Village Clerk Jane Olson will retire next month after 25 years in Buffalo Grove.

A longtime village employee was honored by Buffalo Grove officials last week as she winds up her career.

Deputy Village Clerk Jane Olson, who was hired in 1987, will retire March 1. She was honored by Village President Jeff Braiman with a proclamation, plaque and flowers at the Feb. 4 board meeting.

Over the past 25 years, Olson has managed the village’s annual business and liquor licensing process, worked with the village clerk to ensure election protocols are followed, fulfilled hundreds of Freedom of Information Act requests, helped plan the annual high school Civics Forum and represented the village on a number of committees, including Buffalo Grove Days.

In all, “Jane Olson provided invaluable support to the Village Clerk,” according to the proclamation written in her honor.

Village Clerk Janet Sirabian, who has held the elected position for more than three decades, agreed that Olson’s assistance has been crucial to the success of the clerk’s office. While Sirabian’s role is a part-time commitment, Olson has played an instrumental daytime role at Village Hall, she said.

Records clerk Carol Lieber will replace Olson as deputy village clerk.
