Community Farewell Planned for Neukirch

Buffalo Grove's deputy village manager, Ghida Neukirch, will be honored at a public gathering this month. She received accolades Monday night at Village Hall.

Ghida Neukirch, who will leave Buffalo Grove after 13 years of service to the community, was honored at Monday night's Village Board meeting with a standing ovation from elected officials and an audience full of community volunteers.

The recognition came just days after she announced that she has accepted a similiar position with the City of Highland Park.

Village President Jeff Braiman described Neukirch's work as "very impressive" and acknowledged that "in many ways she was the face of the village" as she connected with the business community and the village's volunteers.

"She was always helpful," Braiman said.

He also acknowledged the recent departure of Dick Kuenkler, the longtime head of the village's engineering department. While Kuenkler was not in attendance, Neukirch remains on staff until July 21. She took a moment Monday night to praise the village's efforts.

"I can say only good things about the dedication of the Village Board and staff," she said. "The community is just exceptional in the number of volunteers we have."

Village Manager Dane Bragg said a public reception will be held for Neukirch from 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 18 at Village Hall. Residents and members of the Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce are invited to attend.

Hopefully it stays a 'moving on party' and any and all political 'shenannigans' stay out of it. Best of luck Ghida!

Ghida has been a wonderful asset to Buffalo Grove and a void will be created when she leaves. She works so very hard, but always with a beautiful smile on her lovely face. She is one in a million.
