Buffalo Grove Fireworks Still on Schedule
Grounds are being watered; wind will be monitored to ensure fireworks can be launched safely.
As many suburban towns call off their fireworks due to dry conditions, Buffalo Grove officials say they plan to hold theirs Wednesday night as scheduled.
Fireworks are launched from the Buffalo Grove Golf Course’s driving range. The course was watered Monday and again Tuesday, and officials at Village Hall met with Buffalo Grove Fire Department representatives this morning to hash out plans.
“The only concern we have right now would be wind,” Village Manager Dane Bragg said Tuesday afternoon.
Ideally, wind will blow less than 5 miles per hour. Bragg said village officials have been tracking wind conditions, and if Wednesday night’s weather is similar to conditions earlier this week, “we shouldn’t have any issue.” Fire officials will make the final determination, he said. Any changes in the village’s plans will be posted on its website.
Buffalo Grove fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m., following a performance by the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band. The band’s patriotic show will begin at 7 p.m. at Rotary Village Green.
Fireworks can be viewed from Rotary Village Green, the Buffalo Grove Golf Course or Willow Stream Park. The show will be set to music, which will be broadcast from the Village Green and the Village Bar and Grill. Viewers are also invited to bring their own radios and tune into 88.1 FM to hear the music.
