Braiman Files Police Complaint About Stone

Village President Jeff Braiman has reportedly notified police about recent encounters with former trustee Lisa Stone.

Updated Jan. 17: No Charges Filed After Stone Calls Braiman After 2 a.m.

Jan. 15:

Village President Jeff Braiman notified Buffalo Grove police this week about recent encounters with recalled trustee Lisa Stone, the Buffalo Grove Countryside reports.

According to the paper, the report came after Stone called Braiman's home after 2 a.m. Jan. 13 to tell him the village's website was not working.

The report follows a series of disputes between Stone and a number of elected officials, including Braiman. A number of times since her 2010 recall, Stone has returned to Village Hall to speak out on a wide range of topics, including water quality, video footage from past meetings that she wants returned to the village's website and the Land and Lakes landfill, among others. During an October board meeting, Braiman characterized her behavior as "unbelievable."

Doesn't everybody check the village's web site at 2:00 am? I'll bet Braiman hopped in his car, drove right down to village hall and rebooted the interweb server just so Stone could find out what time the Canasta game started at the senior center and where she could recycle her old electronics. I guess life gets really lonely and boring when you're a disgraced recalled trustee and "Community Activist" with no legitimate cause to dedicate your superhuman activist skills to. So why not ring up the village president in the middle of the night to tell him the website isn't working? Seems perfectly normal to me.

Here's the first part of the article...I'm not making this stuff up folks.

BUFFALO GROVE — Village President Jeff Braiman notified police Jan. 13 of “escalating” issues with former Village Trustee Lisa Stone.

According to a police report, Braiman told officers that the issues relate to Stone’s sex toy business and her calling him in the middle of the night.

Braiman told Buffalo Grove police that about two weeks ago Stone visited his Arlington Heights law office.

“Stone wanted to give her business card for her sex toy business,” said Braiman, according to the report.

Stone allegedly followed that encounter with a phone call to Braiman’s home at 2:36 a.m. Jan. 13. According to the report, Braiman’s wife, Sue, picked up the phone and concluded the call quickly when she realized who was on the other end.

“Mrs. Braiman said to Stone, ‘How dare you call, go to hell,’ and hung up the phone,” the report states.

Well, I have heard in the past (but never had it fuly confirmed) that she's had that business off and on for awhile. I'm curious to know why she showed up at Braiman's personal law office (not his office at BG Village Hall) with her business card. The only thing I can think of is that this is part of an effort to market her business. Maybe she was offering Braiman and the rest of the Board a "Friends and Family" discount on her products?

Or maybe, with her office visit and early morning phone call, she's simply "toying" with the Braimans? (Sorry- had to go there.) But if that's the case, she could have shown some restraints and at least bought them dinner first. (See- there I go again.)

It is an unwritten standard protocol is to contact any business / governmental agency during regular business hours to report that a website is down. Sounds like unnecessary harrassment to me. Kids who call people in the middle of the night that should not be called, get into trouble. I think she is just trying to get free publicity again.

J, I was sitting with my friend, BC, who is a Navy Seal and battled hard for our Country and others. He wanted to see the meeting of September 10, 2012, when people say I made Trustee Berman cry. The fact that all of my meetings when I was an elected official are not on our web site is insane, and in addition, the meetings that I came out as a citizen to speak had been removed as well. As taxpayers that makes us ripped off, and as society that makes us ignorant to what our government continues to do, given their "above he law" myopic perception. You may want to ask yourself why the Buffalo Grove Board has made it very difficult to watch your government in action, which is how, you, as a taxpayer, can make sure that they're spending your money wisely. Transparency is key o good government.

Remember ... she's the 'community activist' so she's monitoring all that is, and is not, VBG 24x7/365 so she can immediately 'trounce' upon any and all wrong doers. Me thinks this is just another of her publicity stunts to keep her name in the public eye. Remember, she's stated she'd break the law/rules/etc if SHE felt it was in the public's best interest since she 'knows all'.

I'm confused and maybe a little behind on the Stone scoop. Is she re-elected at some capacity within the Village that allows her to call Village officials at this hour? Over a website? Visits Braiman at work in Arlington Heights? Sounds like stalking, or is there something more going on here?

I think she probably went to his office to embarrass him. Can you imagine what she might have said to him about needing her wares? She's said things to embarrass him in the past, so why would anyone assume she was simply marketing?

This off the wall erratic behavior is the kind of aggressive escalated behavior we often see before some unstable people go off the deep end and do the unthinkable, so we can laugh at her, but I would view this as serious stuff and get a restraining order if I were Braiman.

Would hate to think the worst here, but its not just Braiman who needs protection, its the entire staff at the Village along with the Board. She has begged over and over again to be arrested. Its time to take her up on it and resolve the issues at her expense.

Seth,
Are you trying to pick a fight?

Eric did not say that he was going to "deal" with Stone, but that she needs to be dealt with. And "to be dealt with" does not mean that he thinks someone should do something harmful to her. So any inferences you've made that led you to state "tell us what you're going to do" are not based on what he's written.

There's no need to bully Eric. It does not make you look good or reasonable.

AH Vixen, there is a long misogynist history of male commentators making exactly those kinds of remarks about mrs. stone. whatever people may think of her own behaviors, she has been subject to the most inflammatory and threatening language, and anti-woman and boorish reaction, since she first announced that she was running for office, well before her actions at board meetings caused people to take notice. eric's remarks are entirely consistent with that long sad misogynist history of her treatment on boards like this. I infer nothing. the remarks have been clear and consistent in their meaning for a long long time.

I do not support mrs. stone and never have, remarks from people like relentless critic to the contrary. but I have long stood up to the bullying behavior of a lynch mob who has been rudely degrading mrs. stone for years.

Seth,

Re: "eric's remarks are entirely consistent with that long sad misogynist history of her treatment on boards like this."

No they are not consistent with what you claim. There is no inferences of misogyny. Eric merely stated what many law enforcement officials, attorneys, and mental health professionals would say if they were reviewing this case. There is no implication that Eric's comment is based on any hatred of woman and to read that into his comment shows a desire to see things that don't exist.
Why is that? Is it because you don't want to acknowledge what is going on? If you were close to Lisa Stone, I could understand where it might be very frightening to do so.

According to DSM-IV, the shrinks' Bible, delusions of grandeur are characterised by the following:
1. an exaggerated sense of importance, self-worth, and power
2. an unfounded belief that one possesses knowledge others lack
3. a belief one has unfounded relationships with famous people or a divinity

Check on all three criteria.

AH Vixen, it would be better to do research than listen to Seth Bullock who sounds JUST like Lisa in his arguments and phrasing. I've lived in BG for 25 yrs and women on the board have done just fine disagreeing with the men. NO signs of sexism or misogyny. She uses that as an excuse but the truth is it wasn't men who voted her out of office, it was men AND women here in town who had kept up with her nonsense and grew sick of it. Our village board got NOTHING done in the two years she held her seat. She was disrespectful, mean-spirited and rude to those on the board and anyone else who disagreed with her. She was unwilling to accept the finding of experts who disagreed with her, and kept asking for proof when it was provided over and over. She took over the board meetings hijacking every topic until some of the meetings ran past midnight. Some of the members were physically affected by her antics. She's not normal. She's "off". And anyone who thinks it's normal or appropriate to show up at the village presidents place of employment to hand out business cards for her sex toy business is also off. Anyone who thinks it's normal or appropriate to call the village presidents home at 2:30 in the morning to complain that the village website down is off. She has gone after Braiman and others for years because she holds them responsible for her losing her seat. She won't stop. That is SICK and he needs to take steps to protect himself and his family before she does more.

Seth- you are the one who has spouted misogynist crap, and YOU are the one who bullied people by spewing vitriol every time a discussion about Ms.Stone's antics popped up. Anyone can go back and look at your comments over the last couple of years and see that you have been both an apologist and loyal supporter of Stone- even when she was completely off the rails as a Trustee. Despite your occasional (and very weak) "protests" that you didn't support Her, the real truth is that that is virtually ALL you did. You did your best ( which wasn't very good) to legitimize, rationalize, and explain away her obnoxious incompetence - even after 8000+ voters chased her out of office.

You also tried to prove that I, and many other online commenters were bullying HER, when in fact, we were expressing outrage and and disgust about the disruption and horrific waste of taxpayer money she caused while in office and her subsequent "community activist" phase. Yet, you looked the other way as she hijacked board meetings, harassed village staff, and made countless unverifiable claims about alleged wrong-doing and other nefarious activities among the board and staff. Did you EVER point out that her antics were, in fact, BULLYING? Nope- but you sure called us out when we complained about it, didn't you Seth?

Anyone who wants to waste their time looking up your comments over the last few years will see who the real misogynist bully- and liar- is.

Delusion takes so many forms. Some people take on delusions of grandeur. Others take on the delusion of being a savior for those they think are being persecuted. Anyone suffering from such delusions can benefit from help. Reality is harsh and not always easy to deal with, but it beats delusions any day.

While anyone familiar with the Stone Saga knows about the delusions of grandiosity, it just hit me today that the bullying may be a refusal to accept reality - because it is very difficult for some people to accept that someone they love or are close to is so far from reality.

Buffalo Grove police investigate another complaint against former trustee Stone

BY RONNIE WACHTER
Updated: January 23, 2013 12:12AM

BUFFALO GROVE — The list of police reports against former Village Trustee Lisa Stone grew longer this week.

On Jan. 15, a customer at the Buffalo Restaurant, 1180 W. Lake-Cook Road, called police to report an intoxicated woman disturbing her group. The caller, according to a police report, claimed the woman was Stone.

“She was allegedly harassing customers and going into the kitchen with two other subjects,” the report states. “Ms. Stone and her acquaintances had left just before we arrived.”

Officers said they spoke with customers and the restaurant’s manager, who both reported that Stone and her two friends walked into the kitchen.

“She also was heard to be saying, ‘It’s OK. I’m friends with Joe Biden and Katie Couric,’” the report reads.

On Tuesday, Stone confirmed that she was at the Buffalo on Jan. 15, and did greet two employees in the kitchen. She was adamant that she was sober, however.

“I don’t drink,” Stone said. “No way. I mean, a glass or two.”

Stone, the former trustee who voters recalled from office in November of 2010, also drew the ire of Village President Jeff Braiman two weeks ago.

He called police after Stone allegedly called his house at 2:30 a.m., and told officers that he felt his long-running dispute with Stone was “escalating.”

Assuming Stone is friends with Joe Biden and Katie Couric, does she believe that gives her license to enter a restaurant's kitchen?

Assuming Stone is not friends with Joe Biden and Katie Couric, what does her comment signify?

I hope her friends - or family - urge her to get some help. Should someone give Joe Biden or Katie Couric a call?
