Thanks for your comments, everyone. Anthony, I agree. Harry, yes Go Go Sox - you must be fan from way back! As for the Hawk, I like him and remember when he was the Joe Namath of baseball in the late '60s, the hip, happening sports guy. As for the rest, I know not to meth, i mean mess, with anyone named Walter White.

Yes, the difference being Joe Namath was a good player. Hawk had one good season, 1968, .275 BA, 35 HR, 109 RBI. Other than that, he's a career .239 hitter.

Agree on Hawk, disagree in Namath. His post-merger career was mediocre when he was healthy, which wasn't often. But he was a lot of fun.

Aw no, Crawler. You can't say Namath was not a good player! Before his knee injury he was the most talented QB out there. Even if his career pre-injury didn't last that long, he was great both at Alabama and for the Jets.

I said good player, not great. He had a quick release and a great arm. It's hard to compare that generation of QBs with today with the rules changes so in favor of passing offense. I would have liked to see how guys like Namath and Unitas would have stacked up with the QBs of today.

Namath would have loved to play todays game and I think he'd be right up there with the other top QBs (Brady, Manning, Brees) if he did. I'm not sure about Unitas though.

My point on Broadway Joe was that, along with guys like Hawk and Derek Sanderson and Dick Gordon, was one of the the hip-cats of their day. You all may know this, but Namath's last complete pass was thrown at Soldier Field - into the arms of the Bears' Gary Fencik!

Love it! I'll take a Robin over a Hawk any day. Though, to be fair, he's not bad when the Sox do something great. It's the disgusted tone in his voice when they're less than perfect that drives me nuts. And some of his "analytical" comments.

26 games to go boys and girls. The White Sox have played much better than analysts predicted. and Chicagoe has a team in contention, which makes for great sports fodder in September (besides the Bears) around the water cooler. Enjoy as you may, I prefer to believe we have at least 4 weeks of great baseball to play in Chicago.

As a Cubs fan, I do always wonder why the Sox stadium (The Cell?) is always so empty. Even when the Sox are in first, the stands are less than half filled. Cubs Fans support our team, rain or shine. Just wait till next year!

The only season they filled the place was 2006. They've seen too many late season fades to believe in this years team, and it's happening again.
