Stevenson Alumna Receives Fulbright

Elizabeth Bersin, Stevenson High School Class of 2007 and a Miami University 2011 alumna with a diplomacy and foreign affairs major from Long Grove (60047) recently received a 2012-2013 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Austria. Bersin was one of six Miami students or recent graduates to receive this year's award.

Operating in over 155 countries, the Fulbright Program is the U.S. government's premiere scholarship program, and is awarded to students or scholars with strong academic background, leadership potential and a passion for increasing understanding among different cultures and nations. Approximately 1,600 U.S. students receive the award each year.

The scholarship, which provides round-trip travel, maintenance allowance and research allowance, is administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The William J. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board provides guidance throughout the process and the program is sponsored by the United States Information Agency.
