Kelly Bauer of Long Grove received an award at the 65th annual journalism banquet at Northern Illinois University on April 27. 

Bauer was recognized with the Roy G. Campbell "Best Damn Reporter" Award, which is presented to the reporter who best exhibits the spirit and tenacity of the late Roy G. Campbell, professor emeritus and adviser to the university's award-winning student newspaper, the Northern Star. 

Bauer is majoring in journalism with a minor in history.
