Former Gov. Edgar Endorses Mathias and Local Mayors Join To Show Their Support
Former Gov Jim Edgar flew into town yesterday to endorse State Representative Sid Mathias as someone Springfield needs because of his dedication to fiscally responsible principles and his ability to work across the aisle and pass legislation that moves Illinois forward. Gov Edgar said, “Sid Mathias is the type of legislator that will help us solve our horrible financial problems. He knows how to work across the aisle to get things done and is not afraid of a challenge. He is the kind of fiscal conservative we need in Springfield.” Surrounded by Mayors attending in support of Mathias were Lincolnshire Mayor Brett Blomberg, Vernon Hills Mayor Roger Byrne, Prospect Heights Mayor Nick Helmer, and Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder. Edgar went on to say "This is evidence as to how well he also works with local government." Also in attendance is Lake County Board Chairman David Stolman and Wheeling/Prospect Heights Chamber President Al Scaletta.

I notice Buffalo Grove Mayor Jeff Braiman was NOT listed as supporting Mathias. If I remember correctly, Braiman is a Democrat as is Carol Sente.
The Patch has endorsed Sente, but that can be explained by the Patch's connection to the Huffington Post.

Hi Abigail,
Patch does not issue endorsements for any political candidates. We leave that decision completely up to the voters!

Wait, I haven't lived in Illinois long, but there's a Governor that's not in jail?
