Newspaper and yearbook students from District 214 traveled to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston on May 6 to participate in the IHSA State Journalism Tournament. Students from throughout the state competed in 16 events, ranging from advertising to yearbook theme development. The journalism competition has been an IHSA sanctioned tournament since 2006.

Award winners included Buffalo Grove High School sophomore Caylee Mahon, a reporter for The Charger, who was the state runner-up in News Writing.
